Making a difference begins with believing there is a difference to be made...
Schools in Sierra Leone
Our first project was to support schools in Sierra Leone, which was a donation for school uniforms 10 years ago. Since then, we have been committed to supporting the education of both children and adults. JCN Self-SupportedMinistry believes in educating the community to help bridge the gaps and break stereotypes cast by society.
About the project
Starting point
The first step in understanding and developing the scope of the project was to learn about the community's educational needs and the direction it ought to be heading in. This shaped the matrix for determining how we could make improvements.
Support from local communities
Location, scale, and accessibility were absolutely crucial in the execution of this project. We wanted to make the biggest impact on the educational landscape in Sierra Leone, with our plans being realistic and attainable.
End result
With the help of community elders, we have been able to help address the educational needs of both children and adults. Additionally, we have patterned with educators and curriculum developers to develop a two-fold academic and trade curriculum, ensuring equal opportunity for all regardless of gender and age. Where there is a difference to be made, we need all hands on deck.
